Private Gym & Workshop – Guernsey

Shortlisted for the Architects’ Journal Small Projects Awards 2025

This rural Guernsey structure is a celebration of low-tech design, housing a gym, storage, and workshop under one distinctive barrel-vaulted roof. Courtyard London was commissioned by Studio MASH to deliver the full spectrum of bespoke metalwork for the project. Working closely with the design and construction teams, we fabricated key components such as the custom hinges for the sliding external partitions, and full-height door support systems, and the striking architectural doors themselves; built entirely in-house to meet the project’s exacting design and performance standards.

Designed for simplicity, legibility, and longevity, the building pairs timber with corrugated steel and translucent polycarbonate. Our metalwork enhances this balance, lending strength and precision to a build that appears both industrial and familiar. The end result is an understated, finely detailed space that filters natural light by day and glows warmly at night; and we’re proud to have contributed to a project now recognised by the Architects’ Journal as one of 2025’s best small projects.
